A structural design review is not a second opinion offered informally. It is a documented check of the drawings, the assumptions behind them, and the standards they were prepared against — carried out by a chartered engineer who did not produce the original design.
Most of what we find is not dramatic. It is a load case that was not considered, a detail that cannot actually be built as drawn, or a specification that will not pass approval. Found on paper, these cost a revision. Found on site, they cost a great deal more.
We work either as a one-off review before you approve a design, or on an ongoing basis through construction with scheduled inspections and written sign-off at each stage.

Questions
For a typical residential or small commercial scheme, five to ten working days from receiving complete drawings. Larger or more complex projects are quoted individually.
Not for a drawing-stage review. Construction-stage oversight does require site attendance, at intervals agreed in the scope.
We document the finding, the reasoning and the standard it relates to, then discuss it directly with your engineer. The point is a resolved technical question, not a dispute.
Yes. Independent review of another party's design is the majority of this work.
No. Reviewing a design we produced would not be independent, which would defeat the purpose of the engagement.
